Now on to Friday’s trivia video.

Ben (6th grader), Andrew (3rd grader), and Elizabeth (Pre-K) are students at Cataldo Catholic school. Thank you for submitting a video!

In FRI-YAY’s Trivia video, the Kapaun siblings acknowledged how quickly Catholic schools moved into distant learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully our Catholic schools were prepared and committed to continue the rigorous education they had already been providing for their students.

The siblings informed viewers the first Catholic school in America opened in 1810. WOW… that is over 200 years ago.

Their trivia question posed the question, which Saint opened the first Catholic school? The answer was Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Here is a little more information about Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. She was the first American to be canonized as a saint. She was raised Episcopalian, but later converted to Catholicism. Through the struggles and tragedies she faced in life, she remained devout. She is the founder of the first Catholic schools in the United States and is the patron saint of Catholic schools, widows, and seafarers (https://www.womenshistory.org/).

Congratulations to our three winners below.
