TRIVIA EP. 16 – THE ROSARY

Nazareth Guild Trivia Video – Starring Nolan from St. Mary Catholic School

Big shout out to Nolan for his trivia video on Tuesday. He is a third-grader at St. Mary Catholic school in Spokane Valley, and he has a big and beautiful rosary cross hanging on his bedroom wall.

Nolan explained the month of October is designated as the Rosary month. He also informed his viewers the month of May is held special for Mother Mary. His trivia question had to do with praying the Hail Mary during the entire rosary.

We know all you Catholic school kids have been keeping up with your schoolwork during this time in quarantine. Big shout out to our Catholic schools for keeping the learning going while you are home. Good thing you have been staying active with schoolwork because math skills were needed to help solve today’s question. THANK YOU, CATHOLIC SCHOOLS!!

Now, back to our trivia question. How many Hail Mary’s do you pray in the rosary?

When we first pray the rosary, we start at the Cross and say the Apostle’s Creed. Move on to the first big bead and say the Our Father. Then there are three beads. Those beads are for saying Hail Mary (three times for three beads). At this point, we start going through each Mystery (or Decade). There are five Decades, and each decade has ten beads in which we pray the Hail Mary.

Now, let’s do some simple math!

3 (# of beads to start) + 10 (# of beads in each decade) x 5 (# of decades in the rosary) = 53

You had to use PEMDAS to solve the above equation. ?

Congratulations to our three winners below.
